Questions
Before you commit.
Is the planner really free?
Yes — the full editor, the snap engine, the entire rail catalogue, every core module (including short-circuit detection), image / PDF / CSV export, and the installable offline app are all free, forever, with one plan synced to the cloud. You only pay for two optional things: the Cloud service if you want more synced plans across devices, and the one-time Pro license if you want the advanced capabilities.
What's the difference between Cloud and the Pro license?
They're separate products. Locodex Cloud is a subscription service — it syncs and backs up your layouts across devices, in Free (1 plan), Hobby (10) and Club (100) tiers. The one-time €50 Pro license unlocks the advanced software capabilities (wiring & sectioning, multi-level & helix, loco-aware validation, advanced export) permanently, online and off, with no recurring fee. Own one, both, or neither.
What counts as a “cloud-saved” plan?
A layout stored on your account so it's backed up and syncs across devices. Saving .trackplan files to your own disk is always unlimited and free — the cloud slots only cover hosted, synced copies. Free includes 1; Hobby 10; Club a soft 100 (we warn rather than block).
What does the Pro license unlock?
The capabilities you grow into: wiring & sectioning (DCC blocks, feeders, reverse loops), multi-level layouts with gradients and helixes, clearance and minimum-radius validation against your chosen loco, and advanced export. New capabilities added to this version ship to existing owners free — we never charge twice for what the license implied.
What happens if I cancel my Cloud subscription?
Your local .trackplan files are always yours and keep working offline. Cancelling only stops cloud sync; your cloud-saved plans are kept safe and come back when you resubscribe. Core modules stay free, and anything unlocked by the Pro license stays yours regardless.
Will there be a Locodex 2?
Eventually, years out, as a discounted paid upgrade for existing owners — the fair way to be rewarded for years of new work. Never mid-version, and never a forced upgrade.
